The minimum and maximum projected annualized salary for this position is: $131,063 to $224,687. Additional compensation may be possible based on experience and skills.

We understand the need to be creative and flexible when it comes to telecommuting and other alternative work arrangements. This position is eligible for our hybrid remote work and will work in the Rockville, MD office four days per week.

Responsibilities

EagleBank ("Bank") is seeking a talented individual for the position of a Credit Risk Manager. Credit risk management is a critical function for the Bank that enables the Bank to manage the lending activities consistent with the strategic objectives and risk tolerance.

The role is ideally suited for a candidate who combines thought leadership with a desire to be hands-on in developing and managing the Bank’s credit risk management capabilities.

The Credit Risk Manager plays a pivotal role in the execution of Bank’s credit risk monitoring, analysis, and reporting programs. The incumbent will work with stakeholders at all levels to develop credit strategy, advise on execution, and drive portfolio monitoring to identify systemic issues, control weaknesses, and process improvements as well as assessing potential risks that may impact the overall organization.

Credit risk management is a critical function for the Bank that enables the Bank to manage the lending activities consistent with the strategic objectives and risk tolerance.

Qualifications

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the planning, execution, and reporting of credit reviews to identify potential credit risk weaknesses, policy or regulatory violations, servicing deficiencies, or other relevant trends. These reviews include:
    • Analyses of financial information, cash flow models, collateral, and underwriting decisions. the credit facility to help form conclusions on the loans or modifications.
    • Ensuring individual loan transactions are adequately underwritten, properly graded, appropriately priced, and conform to policy.
    • Analyses of credit terms/structures, counterparty financial performance, economic/industry operating environment, and other relevant risk factors to ensure all credit extensions have been made in compliance with Bank policies and U.S. regulatory expectations.
    • Assessing the accuracy and adequacy of U.S. regulatory classifications, probability of default (PD) ratings, loss given default (LGD) ratings and the Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL) process
    • Ensuring risk ratings are accurate across the portfolio and reflect a current forward-looking view of the portfolio’s health
    • Ensuring procedures from origination/purchase through servicing and disposition are documented with controls in place to minimize risk of loss to the Bank and adhere to Policy
  • Develop, produce, and deliver detailed portfolio risk reports to executive management, risk committees, and other stakeholders to effectively communicate the quality and credit risk of loan portfolio assets.
  • Assist with portfolio stress testing and scenario analysis to measure the impact of various economic conditions on portfolio resilience and support the quarterly allowance for credit loss (CECL/ACL) estimation process.
  • In conjunction with Credit Administration and Lending teams, lead efforts to constantly innovate and iterate, the effectiveness and efficiency of credit risk management systems/ processes and improve credit underwriting in lending products by
    • Using analytical techniques to develop insights from historical loan performance data, identify opportunities to underwrite new customer populations, and provide better credit solutions to our existing customer
    • Identifying and monitoring concentrations, trends and themes in the portfolio
    • Monitoring risk trends and recommending changes to credit standards
    • Reviewing and analyzing items such as changes in economic environment, impacts to specific industries, and other external factors that could increase the risk within specific loan types and portfolio
  • Design and deploy monitoring frameworks to assess the performance of new product launches and advise senior management of emerging trends and risks
  • Drive innovation in risk management practices by staying informed about industry trends, emerging risks, and new technologies, and integrating best practices into the Bank’s risk framework.
  • Foster a culture of risk awareness and compliance throughout the organization, promoting a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating credit risks.
  • Perform other job-related duties as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics or Accounting or equivalent work experience is necessary.
  • 7-10 years of experience in credit, credit risk, credit portfolio management and/or credit administration with a financial institution and/or U.S. regulatory agency (OCC, FRB, etc.).
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations governing the lending industry, including regulatory compliance experience.
  • Experience in commercial banking with demonstrated expertise in credit risk management principles, practical knowledge of commercial lending, and proficiency with data, systems, models, and reporting tools
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective risk management strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills with proven ability to analyze credit structures, identify and mitigate credit risks, and make informed decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build relationships with key stakeholders across lines of business.
  • Solutions driven, intellectually curious, self-starter who is proficient in accomplishing concurrent and diverse objectives.
  • Deadline oriented, strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Highly organized, self-motivated and hard working with ability to perform under pressure.
  • Strong desire to work in commercial banking, particularly within a community bank environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail; the ability to present clear, concise, and well-written recommendations that can be presented to senior management.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products suite.

  • Master’s degree in a related area.
